Camping on the SACO River August 19, 2023
In August this year Marie and I along with
Cara Singh and her children Mia (11) and Heidi (8) drove to North Conway,
New Hampshire for a 6-day camping trip at SACO River Family Campground. Our
campsite was strategically positioned between the river on one side that the
washrooms on the other. There was a massive playground that the kids took
full advantage of and we all enjoyed
tubing
down the SACO River. Although we did several runs on the river every
day, Heidi said that her only regret was that we didn’t go tubing enough.
We were fortunate to meet a great family
from Boston who were camped next to us – Alvin and Suzanne Menon and their 7
year old son Samuel. Heidi and Samuel seemed to bond immediately and they
were nearly inseparable as you will see in these photos.
While camping we did a few outings to
visit the local attractions. We did a day run to the White Mountain Forest
where we visited
Sabbathday Park and on another day the Menon’s joined us on a hike to
Cathedral Ledge where we witnessed climbers scaling the granite cliffs.
Although, we had great sunny weather most of the time, it rained on our last
night so we were forced to break camp in the rain. In spite of the rain we
have already booked our campsite for next year.
