Our Wine Tasting at Colaneri Estate Winery

In early August we were invited to visit Cousin Karen and Bill in Stoney Creek. We had a great time reminiscing about our adventures in Florida and we were able to resume our “Marbles” competition. Although Karen and I were able to win a few matches Marie and Bill ultimately retain their position as the “Marbles Champions”

Karen and Bill took us on a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake where our first stop was at the Colaneri Estate Winery where we had an opportunity to sample a number of their fine wines.

Colaneri Estate Winery is family owned and operated, beautifully situated on the St. David`s Bench in Niagara`s wine region. The building sits in the heart of the vineyard, within the lush, pulsating vines. Mike Colaneri had the vision of creating the winery in the shape of a “C”, not only for the family name, but to embrace the captivating view. Designed in a Romanesque style, the building is dedicated to his parents and all of his ancestors who put their heart and soul into everything they did.

Wayne Gretzky’s Estates

Our next stop was at Wayne Gretzky’s Estates where we had the opportunity to tour the winery and whisky facilities. Although we all enjoyed browsing the gift shop the place was so popular that there were extensive wait times for everything. so, we opted to forego the tours and visit downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake instead.

We visited the historic downtown core. This Heritage District showcases the Town's history and the buildings tell the story of the architecture of years past.  Trip-Advisor informs us that:

Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of the most charming and picturesque towns in Ontario that is well worth a visit. So much so, Forbes named it as the Top 5 Weekend Getaway Towns in Ontario in 2023! With its rich Canadian history and cute, historic downtown what's there not to love about Niagara on the Lake?

All in all, we had a great visit with Karen and Bill and an awesome visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Here is a link to a webcam on Queen Street to give you a small taste of what we experienced.
