Our Afternoon Family-Lunch at Kettles Restaurant

One cold and snowy afternoon.in January we decided to go out for a Sunday lunch.  After a short discussion we agreed to try a local restaurant on highway six on the road to Chatsworth. We often noticed that this restaurant, “Kettles Back Home Cooking” which is commonly referred to simply as “Kettles”, always had a full parking lot every time we passed by on our way home from the GTA. We often commented that it must serve great food, given the constantly full parking, but until today we never stopped by to give it a try and we were not disappointed.

We did have a bit of a wait to get seated due to its popularity.  Once we were seated we also noticed that there were always seemed to be a number of people waited to get seated. The food was great and the portions were extra-large. So much so, that after the meal we all passed on the desserts that we had picked out before our meals arrived – just no room left.

It was certainly one of the best restaurant-cooked meals I’ve had in a long time. However as great as the food was, it wasn’t nearly as impressive as the company. It’s always uplifting whenever we have lunch with our Owen Sound family and this one didn’t disappoint. Heidi was a little bit cold and had covered herself with her mother’s coat with her head on the table.  When the waitress brought our meal she saw what she thought was someone’s coat and was surprised when Heidi popped up. 😊

Kettles Back Home Cooking in Chatsworth opened May 1st, 2007. Kettles Back Home Cooking in Clifford opened May 5th, 2021. The owners are proud to be part of a multi-generational restaurant family, carrying on the tradition of home-style cooking. The recipes they use today are the same recipes their Grandparents used over 40 years ago when they started The Redwood Restaurant, in Clifford, Ontario.
