Winter in Florida 2018
Francis Family Visits from Halifax

2018 was a special year for us in Florida. This was the year that Marie's daughter, Heather, her husband, Thomas and their three boys Cameron, Nolan and Evan flew down from Halifax to visit us in Florida. They flew into Fort Myers, rented a large family car and drove to North Port to visit us. They stayed for two weeks and we very much enjoyed spending time with them and showing them around North Port. The boys really liked searching for shark's teeth on the beach.

We all got up and did a family walk on Manasota Beach most mornings. The boys had great fun using the sand scopes to search for Sharks Teeth in the surf.  They found over 100 shark's teeth and Cameron found a megladon tooth which was over an inch long.

We had a lot of fun with the boys especially when we went to Lucky Dog's for lunch.  Lucky Dog serves the best hot dogs in the area.  It's a small diner on the side of the road on the Tamiami highway.  What was really interesting this trip to Luck Dog's was the waitress kept giving us free stuff and didn't charge us for everything.  The seven of us had lunch there for a little over $30.

We did a road trip down to the Florida Everglades to ride the Air Boats.  Thomas had rented a seven passenger Ford Expedition so we were all able to travel in the same vehicle. When we got there we visited Captain's Jacks where the boys all got to hold a baby alligator.  It was all quite safe because the alligators each had a strong rubber band on the snouts.  After lunch we boarded two air boats and went for an enjoyable ride through the swamp where we got to see alligators and other wildlife in their natural environment..

We also did a side trip to Snook Haven which is a park and restaurant.  We had lunch at the restaurant where the boys ordered "Gater Bits" which I was told were like chicken nuggets, since I did not try them..
